Nobody really dies of starvation. They die of pneumonia brought on by malnutrion, kidney failure due to low potassium, shock caused by bones due to osteoporosis, seizures caused by lack of salt.
A child who is never coached with santa claus never develops ability to imagine. To him,nothing exist except the literal and tangible. The one who is ridiculed for his faith and imagination may never believe in anything tangible or intangible.
But a child who relinquishes the illusion of Santa claus, tooth fairy etc. may learn most important skillset and may recognize his faith and imagination. He has ability to dream and create his own reality. That child becomes his own auhtority.He determines natures of his own world and his own vision. And by doing so, he determines the reality of those who can't trust or those who can't imagine.
